About Embodied Social Justice

Embodied Social Justice

“The true meaning of justice is loving-awareness-in-action.” – Dr. Sará King

"The political lives within our very tissues and movements" (Mary Watkin)

Justice is not justice if it is not social, and social justice is not social justice if it is not reflected and embodied in the body.

I've been educating myself further since April. If you want to learn more: Embodied Social Justice Certificate

political bodies

Our bodies and our learning in the body as well as about body and sexuality (norms) are not in a vacuum, but are shaped by centuries of transgenerational patriarchal colonial capitalist violence and oppression. These experiences are inevitably embedded or inscribed in our bodies, have left scars for generations, and powerful social discourses often continue to prevent inclusive possibilities of embodied empowerment or empowered embodiments through shame, guilt and taboo.

Which bodies can move safely in our society, which of them are protected? Which ones are coveted? Who doesn't have to fear other people? Who can bear himself?

Where do you feel the effects of patriarchy, colonialism and all the other -isms stored in your body? Maybe you also feel numbness?

How about re-acquiring your body & sexuality or just feeling it first and being seen and accompanied in a trusting setting - with everything that is there?
